A group of delegates from the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce is in Washington, where they met with U.S. Representative Ed Whitfield on Wednesday, and Senator Mitch McConnell on Thursday.

Whitfield commented on a range of topics including the latest developments with the cleanup of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, ongoing energy policy struggles, and the current crisis in the Middle East.

Senator McConnell greeted Paducah Mayor Gayle Kaler, and spoke with community and business leaders about the President’s foreign policy in regards to defeating ISIL, our nation’s economy, and the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant.

Senator McConnell said, “I always enjoy visiting with Paducah’s community leaders during their visits to Washington, D.C. and when I’m back home in Kentucky. I want to thank Mayor Kaler and the Chamber for bringing community and business leaders to our Nation’s Capital to advocate for Paducah priorities and discuss important issues with the Kentucky Congressional Delegation and the U.S. Department of Energy.”
McConnell arranged for Chamber members to meet with senior officials from the U.S. Department of Energy to discuss the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant.

Over 30 delegates from the Paducah Chamber are in Washington this week as part of their annual visit to promote Paducah initiatives.
