Paducah Club Closed after Raid

PADUCAH, KY - A private club was closed down Friday following a raid by Paducah Police, the City Fire/Inspection Department and the state health department.

Detectives with the police department's Drug and Vice Enforcement unit initiated an investigation after receiving complaints of illegal alcohol sales at Ebony Ltd., located in the 700-block of Oscar Cross Blvd.

A search and inspection of the building revealed health code and building code violations, and the business was shut down.

Officers seized a substantial amount of liquor and beer because the business is not licensed to sell alcohol.

Charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.

  If thats the case,how can the Eagles club sell liquor?and do it every day.I know that the Kevil Eagles got busted,but that is not the only one in town

  If they were selling, they were bootlegging. That is against the law. They were not shut down because they were a private club, they were shut down because they were breaking the law. Case in point, the old Show Palace, it was a private club. You could drink in there, but you had to bring your own. You brought it and gave it to them, and they labeled it so they knew it was yours, and there were no laws broken. If this club had done the same they would have been ok. But they were making money off the booze without a license.

  You have to have a liquor license to sell alcohol which this club did not. So they were commiting a crime. Glad it got shut down. Follow the law and you have nothing to worry about for those of you who do nothing but run your mouth and talk trash about law enforcement. They did their job.

  P.E. A wedding reception is a total different situtation. If booze is present, it will be brough in or furnished by the party host. It is not sold. Only available. We have pool parties where alchol is present but it is BYOB. No offer to sell. Big difference.

  I think what everyone is missing is that it was a "private" club. So what makes it illegal to sell alchol at a "private club". Better watch out next time you have a private party such as a wedding reception you better have a liqour license.

  about time but no drugs or money siezed or no arrests that would had overworked the k-9 unit sniffing out all the customers and really overcrowed the jail
