A Paducah man was arrested on drug trafficking and gun charges Tuesday afternoon.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, Deputy US Marshals were conducting surveillance in the Forest Hills area of Paducah when they observed a white Dodge Ram unrelated to their surveillance pull into the parking lot of an apartment complex.  Deputy US Marshals stated that they observed numerous individuals enter and exit the truck while it was in the parking lot.

As the vehicle was leaving the area, drug detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff's Office stopped the driver for traffic violations. Upon contact with the driver, detectives said they could smell burnt marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle.  The driver, 26-year-old Javarrius Flemons, allegedly admitted that he had marijuana inside the truck, and detectives said Flemons was carrying nearly $4,500 in cash believed to be the proceeds of illegal drug sales.  During a search of the vehicle, detectives reportedly seized a loaded .45 caliber handgun from under the driver's seat, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Flemons was charged with firearm enhanced trafficking in marijuana (second or subsequent offense), possession of drug paraphernalia, and traffic violations.  Flemons has a prior conviction for trafficking in marijuana.

He was lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
