A Paducah man was arrested Tuesday after an investigation into an illegally purchased firearm.
In late 2018, deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office seized a Taurus 9mm handgun, and detectives later learned that 48-year-old John Clayton Howard had submitted false responses on the required paperwork to purchase the gun. Police say his responses on the form did not reveal a lengthy domestic violence history involving repeated assaults on an elderly woman. That history of criminal convictions would prohibit Howard from buying a gun, according to state and federal laws.
Howard has been charged with one count of a fraudulent firearms transaction. He was taken to the McCracken County Jail.
