A man waiting to cross a downtown Paducah street was killed Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle.

Paducah Police said 24-year-old Anthony S. Little, of Paducah told them he was driving south on 4th Street and proceeded into the Kentucky Avenue intersection with a green light, when a car driven by 72-year-old Benjamin S. Pease, also of Paducah ran the red light. Little’s vehicle then struck Pease’s car in the driver’s side, causing Pease’s car to spin and strike 57-year-old Jeffrey J. Meyer as he stood on the sidewalk at the southeast corner of the intersection. Several witnesses saw the crash happen, and police said they confirmed what Little told them.

Meyer was taken by Mercy Regional Ambulance to Baptist Health Paducah, where he was pronounced dead. Neither Little nor Pease was reported injured.

The accident is being reconstructed by the Paducah Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Team.
