A Paducah man was arrested after police say he was spotted driving a stolen vehicle on Paducah’s southside.

According to Paducah Police, A 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe was reported stolen Thursday morning from outside a business on Jackson Street. At about 2:40 pm, Officers were dispatched to the area of Brown Street, where the vehicle reportedly had been spotted.

While enroute, police saw the Tahoe and followed it to Chase Motor Sports on Brown Street, where the driver, 45-year-old Richard Cooper jumped out and fled on foot. Officers pursued Cooper into the woods. Police said Cooper fell down an embankment and into some water. He then swam to the bank and was taken into custody.

Cooper was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail on charges of second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), receiving stolen property (less than $10,000), driving without an operator’s license, and on a warrant charging him with violating parole on a felony conviction in Jefferson County.
