A Paducah man faces theft charges after an incident Monday night.

At around 7 pm Monday night, McCracken County Sheriff’s Deputies say they responded to 550 Denver Avenue to the complaint of a stolen pistol.  The victim said that 46-year-old Kenneth B Brunston of Paducah, had been living in their home for several months.

The victim told the police that Brunston had left the residence earlier in the day and had taken the revolver without their permission. Brunston has previous felony convictions out of McCracken and Ballard Counties. Investigating deputies received information that Brunston was on his way back the residence. Deputies sat up the road and waited for Brunston to return.

At 8:48 pm, deputies were alerted that Brunston had returned to the residence. Deputies arrived on scene a minute later and confronted Brunston. Deputies located a plastic ziplock bag approximately three feet from the driver’s door of Brunston’s truck that contained the stolen pistol.

Brunston was arrested without incident and charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking of a Firearm; Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun; and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Brunston was booked into the McCracken County Jail.
