PADUCAH - A Cairo man charged with murder after an August 8 shooting in Paducah was in court on Wednesday.

According to the McCracken County Court Clerk, 24-year-old Jermaine Harris had his bond hearing continued to January 27.

Harris was arrested September 25 by the Illinois State Police and US Marshals following an August 8 shooting that killed one man and injured four others. The shooting was reportedly the result of an ongoing feud between two groups of people from Mounds and Cairo.

Police said members of the two groups were in Paducah that evening to attend Emancipation Day festivities.

Harris faces charges of murder, wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and four counts of assault.
