PADUCAH, KY - A Paducah man has been taken into custody after he allegedly broke into Rick's Pharmacy in Paducah early Monday morning.

Police say 20-year-old Aaron D. Thompson of Oaks Road was arrested after officers were dispatched to the Schneidman Road business after an alarm sounded around 1:30 am.

A glass front door had been broken, and a witness said he saw a man running from the scene. Officers spotted a man matching the description on Blaess Avenue, but the man reportedly dropped the items he was carrying and ran when he saw officer Matthew Scheer's cruiser.

Scheer chased the man on foot and caught him a short distance away.

The items Thompson reportedly dropped include a crowbar and Hydrocodone valued at $1,000.

Thompson was booked into the McCracken County Jail on charges on third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, and fleeing or evading police.
