The Paducah Police Department is warning residents about a recent lottery scam.

A woman reportedly contacted police after receiving a letter from the International Lottery Commission notifying her that she had won more than $2.2 million in the Euromillion Spanish Sweepstake International Lottery Program. The letter asks the recipient to provide their bank name, account number and routing number.

Police said the letter appears more legitimate than others they have seen. They remind anyone who gets a letter like this to never provide personal information like this to anyone by mail or over the phone.
