Paducah Symphony Extends Ponti's Contract
By WestKyStar Staff
PADUCAH, KY - Paducah Symphony Orchestra Conductor and Artistic Director Raffaele Ponti will extend his contract with the symphony through 2016. Executive Director Daniel Sene announced the extension to audience members at last Saturday’s symphony season opener, Rhapsody in Blue. It was also announced that season ticket sales have exceeded the 800 mark, which is an increase of over 230 tickets sold from last year.

During the performance, Sene stated, “The success of this season is a testament of the artistic leadership of the Maestro. We are elated to have Maestro Ponti sign on for another three years with the Paducah Symphony.”

John Williams, symphony board president added, “Raffaele has brought an incredibly fresh spirit to the orchestra on stage, in our programming, and in our connection with the community-at-large. We consider extending his relationship with us a cornerstone to success.”

Regarding ticket sales, Williams said, “Our ticket sales are up over 40% from last season, which totally bucks the national trend. When I look at it, I would attribute this to programming, relationships, the quality of musicianship, and Maestro Ponti's baton.”

Season tickets and single performance tickets are currently being sold online at www.paducahsymphony.org or by calling the symphony office at 270-444-0065. New season ticket subscribers can purchase season tickets for 50% off the regular price.
