Paducah Teen Arrested on Weapons Charge

A Paducah teen was arrested Thursday on weapons charges.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says deputies responded on June 5 to a home on Kentucky Dam Road to a complaint of a juvenile with a handgun. Deputies located the gun and charged the juvenile with being a minor in possession of a handgun. Deputies said the handgun was not entered as stolen.
 
Sheriff’s detectives contacted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms the next day for assistance in the investigation.  A trace was conducted on the handgun’s serial number to locate the original purchaser. 

On Thursday, detectives learned the original purchaser was a McCracken County resident that lives in the Lone Oak area. They spoke to the victim, and learned the handgun was stolen several months back. The theft went unreported due to a legitimate misunderstanding of how to report stolen property.
