PADUCAH, KY - A Paducah teenager was killed late Tuesday night in McCracken County when his motorcycle struck a utility pole.

According to McCracken County deputies, just before 9:30 pm, 18-year-old Kaleb Thompson of Paducah was traveling west along New Hope Road on a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The investigation revealed that Thompson failed to negotiate a curve in the 6500 block of New Hope Church Road. For unknown reasons, the bike turned on its side and began sliding.

Deputies say Thompson slid an unknown distance before striking a utility pole located just a few feet off the roadway.

Emergency medical personnel pronounced Thompson dead at the scene. A preliminary investigation by the McCracken County Coroner's Office determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma.

New Hope Road was shut down for nearly two hours to allow for an investigation and cleanup. The Lone Oak Fire Department, Mercy Regional EMS and Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
