A Paducah woman was hurt Saturday afternoon in a crash on Cairo Road, after she lost consciousness while driving.

At around 4:15 pm Saturday McCracken County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash with injuries in the 3700 block of Cairo Road.

Deputies said when they arrived they learned that 59-year-old Emma D. Copeland, of Paducah was traveling East on Cairo Road when she passed out due to a medical emergency. Copeland’s vehicle then reportedly crossed the center line and left the opposite side of the roadway, striking a utility pole.

Copeland was taken to a local hospital for treatment of what police say appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Cairo Rd was reduced to one lane for around 30 minutes for cleanup and investigation.
