Iron Mom Half-Marathon Today May Affect Traffic
By WestKyStar Staff
PADUCAH, KY - The Iron Mom Half Marathon is set for this morning in downtown Paducah.
The race will begin on Jefferson Street between Water & Jefferson Streets in Paducah at 6:30 am. The race course will be reopened to traffic after 10:30am.

More than 900 runners from 14 states are registered to participate, an increase as compared to previous years.

Drivers need to be prepared for delays especially on Park Avenue as traffic will be temporarily stopped to allow runners to safely cross. The runners cross Park Avenue at County Park Road and again at North 26th Street. Also expect delays on North 3rd and North 4th Streets as runners end the race heading toward the riverfront on Madison and must cross those intersections before finishing. There also will be a brief delay at those intersections at the beginning of the race.

City of Paducah Public Information Officer Pam Spencer says, “Many of the runners are not from Paducah. I urge people to come outside and show them Paducah’s hospitality.” Spencer adds, “Runners receive so much energy from the cheering crowds and the families sitting in their yards waving.”

Atmos Energy will be grilling hotdogs for runners after the race, and post-race food will be provided by Bob Evans, Cash Saver Food Outlet, McAlister's Deli, Turner Dairy, and Paducah Bank's WOW Wagon.

Awards will be presented at 9:30 am, and the race course closes at 10:30 am.

Individual awards will be given for top three overall male and female and top three master's male and female. Awards for the top three in 10 year age groups will also be awarded.

Team awards: The top three 2-person teams and top three 4-person teams in open division will be awarded.  The top female only 2-person team and top female only 4-person team will receive an award.
