Two people have been charged with stealing a vehicle and firearms from a McCracken County home, after being captured in Louisiana following a police pursuit.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says they began an investigation on Dec. 1 into the theft of a vehicle and firearms from a home in the 4000 block of Bethel Church Road. They reportedly learned 30-year-old Sarah Young of Ledbetter and 31-year-old Johnathan Coates of West Paducah had been at the home the previous night, and were suspected of stealing the vehicle and four guns from inside the home.

Detectives learned on Dec. 6 that officers had stopped the stolen vehicle near Gray, Louisiana after a pursuit. They worked with detectives in Louisiana and secured arrest warrants for Young and Coates. The suspects are being held at the Lafourche Parish Jail on local charges, and will face extradition to McCracken County upon their release.

Both Young and Coates are charged with theft by unlawful taking under $10,000 and four counts of theft of a firearm.
