The city of Paducah is expected to get a report from a downtown parking lot study sometime this month.

In December, the city contracted Concepts21 to do the study of the downtown TIF district. It's one of the steps outlined in the city's pre-development agreement with Weyland Ventures, which could lead to a development on city-owned property at 2nd and Broadway.

The city's Public Information Officer, Pam Spencer, told West Kentucky Star the city is working through different elements of the study.

Spencer said, "There wasn't a specific deadline date. It was something we were hoping to have had the results by now, but it's gonna be a little bit longer than originally projected."

In December, Downtown Development Specialist Katie Axt said the study will gather information about current parking spaces, signage and accessibility. It will also outline future parking needs based on re-development scenarios, and give recommendations based on listening sessions and other findings.

Spencer said the study's cost of $6,000 will not change because of the slight delay.

Weyland Ventures has agreed to plan, design, and develop a 'mixed-use development' at the municipal parking lot surrounded by Second Street, Broadway, North Water Street, and Jefferson Street. It could include a 4-story hotel, along with parking, open areas and mixed-use buildings.
