Part of a downtown Paducah building collapsed into the street on Sunday morning.

Paducah Public Information Officer Pam Spencer said a section of the front of the building at 133 South 3rd Street collapsed into the intersection of South 3rd and Kentucky Avenue at around 1:30 am. No one was injured in the collapse.

Owners of the building secured a contractor to stabilize the structure, and they reportedly removed part of the front of the building.

As of Monday morning, South 3rd Street was reopened to traffic, but there may be times when one lane will be closed as equipment is moved. One lane of Kentucky Avenue was still blocked adjacent to the building.

Spencer said all efforts are being made to save the building, which had been undergoing renovations.
