Police Chase Leads to Felony Charges

PADUCAH, KY - A man faces felony charges, after a Saturday police chase.

Kentucky State Police Troopers were conducting a traffic checkpoint Saturday evening at the intersection of KY 305 and Coleman Road. According to police, a vehicle driven by Andre Cowherd approached. Troopers said they told Cowherd to get out of his vehicle, at which time he fled the scene.

Troopers and Paducah Police Officers pursued Cowherd into an apartment complex at Oakcrest Drive. Police said Cowherd then got out of his vehicle while it was still moving. Cowherd then reportedly ran toward a building, forced an apartment door open and went inside. Officers were then able to subdue him with their tasers.

Cowherd was taken to Lourdes Hospital, where he was treated and released. He was then taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail and charged with; fleeing or evading police, 1st degree (motor vehicle), fleeing or evading police 1st degree (on foot), burglary, 2nd degree, 2 Counts criminal mischief, 3rd degree trafficking in marijuana, resisting arrest, wanton endangerment, 1st degree, possession of synthetic cannabis, disorderly conduct, 2nd degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, and several traffic violations.
