Law enforcement agencies have apparently been getting lots of calls about out-of-state travel.

In a Facebook post, Kentucky State Police say their dispatch has been flooded with calls from people asking whether bridges or roads into other states have been closed, or needing other information.

Police say that no roads or bridges are closed, and that essential out-of-state travel includes work, groceries, medicine, caring for a loved one, or seeking medical help.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department shared the KSP post with the comment, "Ditto for McCracken County. 9-1-1 is for emergencies, not inquiries."

KSP reminds everyone that 911 is for emergencies only. They say if their dispatch system is overloaded it could keep someone with a real emergency from getting the help they need.

Local law enforcement agencies have non-emergency lines that can be used for questions or concerns that are not emergencies.
