A Marshall County woman is dead and a Livingston County man jailed, after an apparent domestic dispute early Sunday in the parking lot of the Paducah/McCracken County Convention and Expo Center.

According to the Paducah Police Department, a man called police about 3:10 a.m. Sunday after he saw a woman lying in the parking lot of the convention center. Officers found the woman dead, and a recreational vehicle parked in the same lot. A man, identified as 49-year-old James Vanvactor of Grand Rivers, was sitting in the driver’s seat of the RV.

Surveillance video from the convention center shows Vanvactor and the woman, 48-year-old Angella Hale of Calvert City, arguing shortly after 1 a.m. Hale sat down behind the RV, and the two continued talking.

According to police, Vanvactor walked to the front of the RV and got into the driver’s seat, put the vehicle in reverse and backed over Hale with both front and rear wheels. He then parked the RV and remained inside. He did not check on Hale, or call for medical help.

Hale’s body was discovered two hours later by the reporting party. Vanvactor was arrested and charged with murder/domestic violence, resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid. He was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
