Police Seek Attempted Robbery Suspect
By WestKyStar Staff
PADUCAH, KY - An employee thwarted a possible robbery this afternoon at a south side Paducah business.

Paducah police were called at 4:30 pm Monday to a report of a robbery in progress at Easy Money Shoppe on Irvin Cobb Drive. When officers arrived, the store manager told them her co-worker had spotted a man coming around the side of the building, wearing a hoodie with a bandana covering part of his face, so she locked the front doors.

The man tried several times to open the door, then ran back around to the side of the business. The man was described as thin, wearing a black or blue hoodie and dark glasses, with a blue bandana covering the lower half of his face. He wore brown gloves. The employees said his skin was not visible, so it is unknown whether he was black or white.

The man is being sought for questioning, according to Det. Sgt. Brian Laird. “We don’t know what his intention was because he never made it inside the
business,” Laird said. However, he said, the clerk’s quick thinking very possibly prevented a robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Paducah Police Department at 270/444-8550 or Crime Stoppers at 443-TELL. Tipsters also may text their tips to “CRIMES” (274637) by entering “KyTips” followed by their information, or by visiting the Crime Stoppers website at Information leading to an arrest or indictment may result in a reward of up to $1,000.
