Authorities are investigating recent reports of someone shining a laser at several targets in the Paducah area.

The Paducah Police Department says officers have received nearly a dozen reports of someone shining a green laser light at several area homes, businesses and aircraft.

Pilots have reported the green laser light coming from the area of High Street and Hinkleville Road.

“People don’t realize how dangerous this is,” said Det. Jason Hicks. “It can cause an aircraft’s computer equipment to malfunction while landing, which could lead to a crash.”

Police say the person responsible could be charged with laser/vision interference light directed at aircraft if they are identified.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Paducah Police Department at 270-444-8550.
