By West Kentucky Star Staff
PADUCAH - A woman was arrested Wednesday night after police say she hit a young child with her vehicle and then left the area.

The Paducah Police Department said officers responded just before 5 p.m. to Baptist Health Paducah, where a three-year-old boy was being treated in the emergency room. The boy’s mother reportedly told investigators 21-year-old Keyera Thomasson was driving in the 2700 block of Fairmont Street as the boy attempted to cross the road. Thomasson stopped briefly after hitting the child with her vehicle before leaving the scene.

Officers arrested Thomasson later that evening and booked her into McCracken County Regional Jail on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid.

Police said the boy’s injuries are not life-threatening.
