The 78th annual running of the National Retriever Club (NRC) Championships, an American Kennel Club event for retrievers, is set to take place Nov. 10-17 at the West Kentucky Wildlife Management Area.

Based in Waukesha, Wisconsin, the NRC rotates its national event to a different time zone each year.

“The event has taken place near St. Louis for many years, but we’ve been able to bring the competition to Paducah because of the area’s great amenities including the West Kentucky Wildlife Management Area,” says Mitch Patterson, NRC president. “Adding to a venue that is very conducive to our sport, the friendliness of the people of Paducah make this a perfect destination to host this year’s national championships.”

The NRC Championships are considered the premier hunting retriever field trial event. There are currently 106 dogs that have qualified and entered the competition with more than 300 handlers and spectators expected to attend.
