A debate on the merits and faults of the proposed Paducah/McCracken County government merger is scheduled for Labor Day on the riverfront in Paducah.

Brandon Duncan is with the Labor Day committee in Paducah, and says this seemed like a good opportunity to get information to the public.

"We went down to the chamber, and went over to the county officials and was talking to them...People need to know the issues because the two different sides are getting, you know, some pretty heated debates going on. So we just need to put it out to the public, and have a forum so that everybody can see what's going on, understand the issues, and then let the people of McCracken County decide."

The debate will be on the riverfront near Whaler's Catch, and is set to begin at 2 pm. It will be broadcast live on WKYX 94.3 FM and 570 AM.

Registered voters in McCracken County will go to the polls with the issue on November 6.
