A section of Old Clarks River Road that runs under the north end of the KY 1954/John Puryear Drive overpass on Paducah’s southside has been closed until repairs can be made on a pipe under the structure.

There is no structural damage to the overpass itself. The closure will not impact traffic crossing the overpass on Puryear Drive or in the intersection of 60/62 and the I-24 Business Loop nearby.

KYTC spokesman Keith Todd said a vehicle traveling on the frontage road hit and destroyed a drainage pipe that keeps runoff from the top of the overpass from dumping out on traffic driving underneath.  He said it may take a few days to fabricate piping needed to make repairs.

With substantial rain expected this weekend, the frontage road has been closed where it goes under the overpass to prevent rock and gravel from being washed out onto vehicles passing below.
