By West Kentucky Star Staff
PADUCAH - The tenth annual Ratoberfest takes place today (Saturday, Oct. 12th) at Beacon Dragway, 4460 Shemwell Lane in Paducah.

The event features rat rods and hot rods in a car and bike show welcoming all makes, years, and models. There will also be a pinup contest, racing, burnout competitions, shopping pavilion, food, an auction and more.

Gates open at 7 am, with admission of $10 per person. Activities continue until awards are presented at 4:30 pm. Shopping in the "Ladies Room," along with a swap meet, raffles, and silent auction will take place throughout the day.

Event organizer Mark Lawrence said this year's event will celebrate a decade of great times and fast cars that have made it so famous. He encouraged everyone to come out and make it the best one ever.

"Ratoberfest is an open car show. Cars, trucks, bikes, anything that rolls, we want you to come out and show it. If you're proud of it, we want you to be out there. Just a gathering where you can get together with alike car people and enjoy the day." He said.

Jamie Brooks with Marshall County Exceptional Center said the event is their largest fundraiser of the year, as all of their money comes from community donations.

"We are one of the only facilities in existence that takes people who have no Medicaid waiver. If you have a disability we will take you." she said.
