As the first class of eligible high school students in a McCracken County scholarship program prepare for college, that program has gotten another boost in funding.

The Paducah Rotary Club presented West Kentucky Community and Technical College with a check Wednesday at the Rotary Club meeting, promising another $100,000 to the Community Scholarship Program.

Students who enrolled in the program during their freshman year 4 years ago, and kept 95% attendance and a 2.5 GPA through school, will be the first to have 2 years of tuition for education at WKCTC guaranteed. Students who enrolled after their freshman year get a pro-rated grant (25 percent of tuition for each year).

Rotary President Chris McNeill said, "Rotary is so pleased to partner with other donors and WKCTC in a program that will pay for two years of college education for any enrolled students in Paducah and McCracken County. This is a strong and unique asset in our community."

Students from Community Christian Academy, McCracken County High School (formerly Heath, Lone Oak, and Reidland students), Paducah Tilghman High School, St. Mary High School, and home-school students are eligible for the program.

The program was initiated by the Rotary Club in 2010, and has been supported by several other organizations:

Bacon Farmer Workman/Marcum Engineering
City of Paducah
Community Financial Services Bank
Computer Services, Inc.
Edward Jones Investments
McCracken Co. Fiscal Court
