A Salem woman was arrested Thursday afternoon, after police say officers found various drugs in her vehicle following a brief chase.

According to Paducah Police, officers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Gena M. Fox at the intersection of Bethel Street and Irvin Cobb Drive. Police said Fox refused to stop, drove through the parking lots of several businesses, jumped out of her vehicle on a dead-end road and began running parallel to railroad tracks. Officers pursued Fox on foot for a short distance before she was taken into custody.

Police said they found 26 grams of meth, digital scales, plastic bags, 12 Xanax pills, five Valium pills and three unidentified white pills in the car. They seized those items, along with $946 cash and Fox’s cell phone.

Fox was arrested on charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle); first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine); possession of drug paraphernalia; third degree possession of a controlled substance; failure to produce an insurance card; second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot); and failure to wear a seat belt. She was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
