A Paducah man was taken into custody Friday afternoon after leading officers on a brief pursuit, and causing the lockdown of two Paducah schools.

Police say 21-year-old Luther D. Robinson was arrested at 2:17 pm.

Officer Beau Green was preparing to arrest Robinson on drug charges, when Robinson apparently spotted Green and sped away down 25th Street, onto Broadway, then to Buckner Lane.

Robinson turned into a driveway on Ridgewood Drive and jumped out of his car. Officer Green chased him on foot as other officers set up a perimeter around the neighborhood. Robinson was preparing to cross Buckner Lane near Immanuel Baptist Church, but stopped running and lay down on the ground when he saw a police dog approaching.

Both Clark Elementary School and Paducah Middle School were notified to lock their doors while the pursuit was occuring.

Robinson was taken to Western Baptist Hospital for treatment of a sprained ankle sustained while running. He was not injured by the police dog.
