The lighting ceremony started at 5:30 pm, and the switch was flipped at 5:40 to illuminate the park, followed by the opportunity to walk through the display to see the lights at a slower pace. Folks could walk through the park or take a carriage ride until 7 pm, when the gates were opened for vehicles.
Paducah Power says they have a new lighting display in the park this year, sponsored by Banterra Bank.
The display will be open nightly from 6 to 9 pm, Sunday through Thursday nights and from 6 to 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Admission is free, but they are accepting donations of cash and canned goods for four area agencies that help those in need: Paducah Cooperative Ministry, Family Service Society, the Salvation Army and St. Vincent DePaul Society.
