Semi Driver Dies in I-24 Crash Friday Night
By WestKyStar Staff
PADUCAH, KY - One man has died as a result of an accident Friday night that left westbound lanes on I-24 closed all night.

The wreck happened just west of Exit 16, and involved two semi-tractor trailers. Kentucky State Police say that Reginald Brooks was driving west when he had a tire blow-out. He continued at a low rate of speed, and was struck in the rear by another truck driven by Bruce White.

Both men and Donna Rider, a passenger in Brooks' truck, were taken to Western Baptist Hospital by Mercy EMS. White died from injuries he received in the crash. Brooks and Rider were treated and released.

Traffic was detoured using U.S. Highway 62 while a re-construction team investigated the scene, and the scene was cleared.

Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Reidland-Farley Fire Department, Hippie's Wrecker Service, McCracken County Sheriff's Department, and the Kentucky Transportation Department helped at the scene.

Transportation Cabinet officials say there may be some additional road work required along the shoulder on Monday or Tuesday.
