By WestKyStar Staff
PADUCAH, KY - In May 2011, the Chamber held a transportation summit to focus on the multi-modal transportation benefits of our region. With the expansion of the Panama Canal in 2014, there are many advantages to the river, rail, road and air sectors.
Mark Sheppard, Vice President of Trade & Development for the Alabama State Port Authority, will speak at the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce’s August 9 Power in Partnership breakfast meeting as a follow-up to the Transportation Summit.
Sheppard joined the Alabama State Port Authority in 2005 as Vice President of Trade & Development, and has been a maritime and transportation industry executive for over 30 years. Sheppard began his career in the international maritime industry as a management trainee for United States Lines, which was then one of the world’s largest container shipping lines. His career also included positions with major ocean container carriers, such as Hapag-Lloyd, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and Ned-Lloyd Lines. He’s lead initiatives in directing sales and marketing, as well as integrated logistics activities and vessel, terminal and intermodal operations.
