The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department has received a state grant for almost $20,000, which they will use to set up periodic traffic safety checkpoints over the next year.

The checkpoints will be set up at verious times on highways and county roads where statistics have shown an elevated number of crashes and/or traffic violations. During the checkpoints, Deputies will be enforcing laws related to vehicle equipment, licensing, registration and insurance, along with DUI, seat belt and child seat laws. Other criminal activity and public safety issues will be dealt with if they arise.
