McCracken County Jailer Tonya Ray's days in office are numbered, as voters in Tuesday's primary election chose to eliminate her from the ballot this November.

Democrat Dan Sims will face Republican David Knight in the race for McCracken County Jailer in the General Election, and Ray will not appear on the ballot. Sims got 3,401 votes in Tuesday's Democratic Primary election. Challenger Paula Riley came in second place, with 831 votes. Ray came in a distant third place, with 406 votes.

In the Republican Primary, David Knight came out on top with 1,916 votes. Coming in second place was Greg Garrison, with 787 votes. Bobby Dennis came in third, with 364 votes.

Ray, who was appointed to her position, is currently facing a felony perjury charge, and has been indicted on an additional misdemeanor charge in a separate case.

McCracken County voters will head back to the polls November 6 to choose a new Jailer.
