The positive impact of Work Ready Communities will be the topic for a Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business Education Partnership luncheon on Tuesday, April 16. The featured speaker is Kristina Slattery, Executive Director of the Office of Workforce, Community Development and Research, with the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development.

The meeting will begin at 11:30 am at the Commerce Center, 300 South 3rd Street, in the Paducah Bank Community Room. The luncheon is open to anyone wanting to learn more about the region’s workforce and economic development efforts. There is a $15 fee to attend the catered luncheon.

Slattery will provide an update on the state’s Work Ready program and the importance of the certification for a positive impact for economic development. Slattery has been with the state’s Economic Development cabinet for over three years, joining the Cabinet following a 10 year career in Human Resources and Operations Management with The Home Depot, where she was responsible for all customer facing, inventory management and staffing aspects of her store.

A Kentucky Work Ready Community certification is a measure of a county's workforce quality. It is an assurance to business and industry that the community is committed to providing the highly-skilled workforce required in today's competitive global economy.  Currently in Kentucky there are 41 counties who have achieved the certification including McCracken, Marshall, Graves, Ballard and Carlisle.  Fulton and Hickman Counties are Certified Work Ready In Progress.

Pre-registration is required to attend. Those interested in attending should register online at www.paducahchamber.org, email info@paducahchamber.org or call 270-443-1746 by noon, April 12.
