Beginning today, nearly a third of Paducah residential solid waste customers will see a change in their collection day.

City of Paducah Solid Waste Division staff have provided informational notices to approximately 3000 affected residents. All customers can check to see their scheduled collection date by visiting the webpage www.paducahky.gov/solid-waste (link below). An interactive map on the page allows residents to type in their address to find out their solid waste collection day.

Also, beginning this week, City Solid Waste crews change their work hours for residential and commercial rollout container collection.  Prior to today, crews worked from 4 am until 12:30 pm, but the new hours are 7 am until 3:30 pm. The change increases safety for workers and the public since all of the collection hours are during the daylight hours.

Crews who collect solid waste from commercial dumpsters will maintain their 4 am to 12:30 pm hours, since many businesses prefer solid waste collection to occur early in the day.

City Engineer-Public Works Director Rick Murphy said the changes are also being made to prepare for curbside recycling when it rolls out in January.

If you have a question about solid waste collection or about the curbside recycling program, contact the Engineering-Public Works Department at 270-444-8511 or visit www.paducahky.gov.
