The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced a finalist from St. Mary High School in Paducah.

St. Mary senior, Emily Hodges, was selected as a Finalist in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.  About 1.6 million students in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program.  Only 15,000 advanced to the Finalist level. Those academically talented seniors who were chosen as Finalists will compete for more than $32 million in scholarships that will be awarded in the spring.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation is a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance and was formed to honor and recognize the nation’s scholastic champions and encourage the pursuit of academic success. National Merit Scholars are selected on the basis of skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

In addition to being selected as a finalist, Hodges was selected for the Governors Scholar Program. A four year member of the St. Mary varsity Volleyball team, she is the daughter of Chris and Jennifer Hodges.
