Store Manager Faces Theft Charges

A Paducah woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $500 from her employer.

According to Paducah Police, a company loss prevention officer contacted them and said 33-year-old Melissa A. Cunningham, manager of the Dollar General store at 2320 S. Beltline Highway, had discrepancies in her bank deposits.

Detectives later interviewed Cunningham, who they say admitted to taking $505 from a deposit early in January. Cunningham reportedly began making the bank deposits a day late, replacing the stolen money with cash taken from the next day’s deposit. Police said she told them she planned to return the $505 when she got her income tax return.

Cunningham was arrested Friday and charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition and booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
