Storms Mostly a Rain Event For Kentucky
By AP
PADUCAH, KY - Storms moving through Kentucky last night and today are dropping significant rainfall, but lack the punch that was earlier expected.

National Weather Service forecaster Robin Smith in Paducah said early Thursday that there had been no reports of severe weather in Kentucky.

While rainfall reports were still coming into the forecast office, Smith said amounts up to 1 1/2 inches would be common in western Kentucky.

The storm system slowed down over Missouri and its late arrival in western Kentucky helped keep down the potential for violent weather.

Smith said that without daytime heating to energize them, the storms became mostly a rain event.

Flash flooding has been a problem this morning in northwest Tennessee.  No flash flood watches were posted in Kentucky, however.
