By West Kentucky Star Staff
PADUCAH - The Paducah Police Department's newest officer was sworn in at Tuesday's City Commission meeting.

McCracken Judge Deanna Wise Henschel administered the oath to 27-year-old Codey R. Strong, who comes to the PPD after working two years as an officer with the DeKalb County, Georgia, Police Department.

Strong is a graduate of Carterville, Illinois, High School and served six years in the U.S. Army National Guard.

Because he is a lateral hire, the department says he does not have to attend the Basic Law Enforcement Academy and will be on the street much sooner than an new recruit.
