HollandStivers Associates, LLC, has partnered with Socially Present for the "Summer Harvest" food drive on June 25-27, which will benefit Paducah Cooperative Ministry.
Wendy Cooper of HollandStivers said the idea originally included clients and businesses they had relationships with, but after posting it on their business website and their personal Facebook pages, it has quickly grown. But the goal is the same.
"See if you can get your employees to bring in canned goods during the 25th, 26th, and 27th, and then on the 28th harvest all of that and bring it to us here at HollandStivers," Cooper said.
That Friday, the firm will have T-shirts to give away, and Paducah Bank is loaning them their ice cream truck, so those who bring the canned goods to them will get treats and goodies as a way of saying thanks.
Cooper said, "We're just gonna have some bottled water, some refreshments, just kinda make it a community day that everybody can be involved in - if they choose to be."
According to Heidi Suhrheinrich, Director of PCM, the assistance is crucial this time of year.
“Summer months are some of the busiest at PCM – in terms of requests for emergency food assistance. With the school children at home, the strain on family resources goes up. Unfortunately, summer is also the time of year when donations seem to drop! Food drives at this time of the year are particularly helpful.”
