MCCRACKEN COUNTY - A Mounds man charged with murder following an August 8 shooting in Paducah was in court on Friday.

According to the McCracken County Court Clerk, 21-year-old Demonta Woodward appeared for a motion hour. A pretrial conference was scheduled for February 5 at 1 pm.

Woodward turned himself in on November 11 following a shooting that killed one man and injured four others. The shooting was reportedly the result of an ongoing feud between two groups of people from Cairo and Mounds. The incident took place during the annual Emancipation Day celebration.

Woodward faces charges of murder, four counts of first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, and first-degree criminal mischief.

On Wednesday, 24-year-old Jermaine Harris of Cairo appeared regarding the same shooting. Harris had his bond hearing continued to January 27.
