The McCracken County Sheriff's Office arrested four people on drug-related charges Thursday. On Thursday at approximately 2:45pm detectives observed two men engaged in what they believed to be illegal drug activity on the parking lot of a gas station located at the intersection of Benton Road and Silk Tree Boulevard.

Deputies said the two men attempted to leave the area when they saw the detectives. One left on foot and the other in a vehicle. Detectives stopped the vehicle on Bullard Street and the driver, 23-year-old Timothy Stroup of Clark's River Road, was reportedly under the influence of illegal drugs. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI and no operator’s license.

Deputies located the other man, 63-year-old Dewayne “Jeezy” Johnson of Bullard Street, on Louisiana Street. Deputies searched Johnson and found $1,441 in cash and eight bags of cocaine. Johnson was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine and possession of cocaine.

During a search of Johnson's apartment, detectives located methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, prescription medication, digital scales and other assorted drug paraphernalia. Detectives also located and seized a 42" flat screen TV that had the serial number removed that is suspected to be stolen.

Detectives arrested two people at the apartment. According to police, 22-year-old Steven Jones of Ledbetter was charged with tampering with physical evidence, trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Detectives also arrested 29-year-old Tabatha Ward of Hovekamp Road on charges of possession of meth, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
