A Symsonia woman was arrested Tuesday on drug charges, after police say she sold prescription pills illegally.

According to Paducah Police, 59-year-old Sherry Lovelace of Symsonia reported on July 23 that she went into a restaurant to use the restroom and left her purse in the car with a friend. She said when the two parted a short time later, she found bottles of Hydrocodone and Diazepam were missing from her purse.

Police said their investigation showed that the medication theft may have been part of a drug deal gone wrong.  They said Lovelace eventually admitted that she had agreed to trade 10 Hydrocodone tablets for her friend’s food stamp card, which was to be worth $140.

Detectives said they later learned of more than a dozen occasions on which Lovelace sold her pills to other individuals. Lovelace was indicted on 14 counts of second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. She was arrested Tuesday morning and booked into McCracken County Regional Jail
