Two McCracken County teens were arrested Wednesday after police say they broke into a Tennessee Street home, brandished a gun and demanded money and drugs.

According to Paducah Police, Shurrod L. Wilbon of the 1100 block of Tennessee Street called them at 5:37 am and said two white males had kicked open the front door of his home, waved a handgun and demanded “money and dope.”

Another resident of the home said she heard a knock on the door and looked through a peephole just before the door was kicked open. She said she recognized one of the two young men, and provided a name to police. The residents said they told the two teens that they didn’t have any money, and the two fled.

While responding to the call, an officer saw a white Dodge pickup truck quickly leaving the area and recognized it as matching the description of one that had been reported stolen to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department. The driver fled when the officer attempted to stop him. Police pursued the truck until the driver lost control and hit a utility pole at Bridge Street and Ashbrook Avenue. The driver fled on foot.

The passenger, a 16-year-old, was taken into custody. Police searched the area for about 2 ½ hours before locating the driver in the yard of a home on Clements Street. The 16-year-old was charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery.

A 17-year-old was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery, first-degree fleeing and evading (motor vehicle), leaving the scene of an accident, first-degree criminal mischief, receiving stolen property (less than $10,000), reckless driving and possession of a handgun by a minor. Both were booked into the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center.
