A collision on the I-24 bridge Friday injured two people who were standing on the shoulder with a disabled vehicle.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, the accident happened about 3:15 on the eastbound lanes of the bridge. Deputies say 29-year-old Audrey Oakley of Murray was attempting to pass a slow moving vehicle but lost control, striking two vehicles on the right shoulder. The vehicles struck their drivers who were standing nearby. A car belonging to 65-year-old Doris Martin had a flat tire, and 44-year-old Linda Henson of Brookport had been driving a truck belonging to Jason's Collision Center. The two were discussing having Martin's car towed when the accident took place.

Henson and Martin were taken to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Deputies say both were conscious and their injuries were not serious.
