PADUCAH, KY - Eventually all things come to an end. For Paducah Tilghman and Lone Oak, the beginning of the 2012 football season will mark the final game between the two storied programs, as Lone Oak consolidates with the other McCracken County schools next year.

Tilghman and Lone Oak are two of the winningest programs in the region over the last seven years.

Determining which school has had the most success duing that time is debatable. Tilghman turned a losing season into a Class 3A state championship in 2009. Lone Oak has played for two state titles since 2007, finishing as as the Class 4A runner-up each time. 

Both schools are separated by just a few miles, yet spent years apart, meeting for the first time in several years last season. Paducah Tilghman dominated the Purple Flash 43-3.

Lone Oak will be looking to avenge last season's loss, and will be in good shape to do so with most of their offensive production back from a year ago.

Lone Oak is known for their passing game and quarterback Cole Ousley will look to lead the air attack for the Purple Flash. Ousley threw for 3,517 yards and 53 touchdowns last season.

Second leading receiver Derek Collier is back to help in the passing game. Collier caught 715 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.

Tilghman's offensive attack is more concentrated on the ground.

The Blue Tornado return both leading rushers from a year ago in James Hill and Trevante Coleman. Hill led the team in rushing with 423 yards and six touchdowns, Coleman with 374 yards and four touchdowns.

The final meeting between the two schools could prove to be historic. Should Lone Oak come away with the win, it would be its first ever against Paducah Tilghman.

Kick-off is 7:30 tonight at Lone Oak.
