Paducah Tilghman's Anna Grace McGee, sophomore, and Meg Hancock, senior, have been named state champions in the Kentucky Council of Teachers of English and Language Arts high school writing contest. McGee's poem entitled "Reflections of an Introvert" earned her the state's first place designation, and Hancock's speech, "Equal Education for All," earned her the state championship in argumentative writing.

Sophomore Emery Wainscott was awarded third place in the state for her poem entitled "You Call That Blue?" Fellow sophomore Connor Trimble was awarded third place in the state's narrative writing competition for his piece entitled "Memoir: The Odyssey."

The writing contest is sponsored and judged by English and language arts teachers from around the state, and the contest is open to all Kentucky high school students. This is the fourth year Paducah Tilghman students have entered the contest, and the fourth year PTHS students have earned state championship titles.
